you don't wear my chains

I took these pictures a while back in October, and just rediscovered them today. I figured I may as well put them up because I love the way the lamp light was lighting up the autumn leaves.
I found this scarf at Zara for $12 last week, and I just knew I had to get it. I decided to pair it with my cream and navy sweater because I love the way the colours all compliment each other. I wanted to keep my look subtle, so I wore my black pea coat, black skinnies, and black combat boots.
Enjoy :)

you're just somebody that I used to know

Well the week of -30 is finally over!! I went out to take some shots of the sun through our dove wind chimes and the water dripping from the eavestrough and this is the product of that.
I went into Aldo with a friend the other day and I found these evergreen loafers there for $20. So if course, I had to buy them, even though it means I'm cheating on Steve Madden. I paired them with my cranberry sweater and my Mom's copper necklace to keep a warmer, dark colour pallet. But I also wore my cream blazer to add some contrast and light.
The title for this look comes from the Australian artist Gotye's song: Somebody I Used to Know, and I highly recommend giving it a listen below.

someday i'll fly, someday i'll soar

I was looking in Zara the other day, and I found their bow tie section. This little red and white stripped anchor bow tie just screamed at me to buy it as soon as I lay eyes on it. I coupled it with my blue paisley shirt and navy blazer to keep a nautical colour scheme, at least on my upper half. I then decided that my khakis would add a nice contrast to the outfit. So I put on my Calvin Klein belt and my Steve Madden dress shoes and headed out to dinner. I had to do this shot inside because it was a whopping -32oC with the wind yesterday and it feels like -36oC right now. Pray for warmth in Calgary!
I hope everyone likes my look :)

as I pretend to feel no pain

I wanted to incorporate my Great-Grandmother's hand knit sweater into another look. For this one, I decided on a more icey, light look with the grey, white, and sky blue. As well, I find the boots give it a wintery feel, even though it has been far from wintery the past few weeks in Calgary. As well, I decided that the suspenders would be a nice touch of class and a neat element I could add. Anyways, I hope everyone like it :)

anywhere but here without you

As much as I got some great deals on Boxing Day, this shirt was the one thing I paid full price for. But the material and the colour and the fit made it worth the price. I found that the best pant to wear it with is my cranberry ones, because of the way they flow with each other and maintain subtlty. As well, I love my cranberry pants with my congac penny loafers, so this was really a no bainer of a look.
I hope everyone likes it! Feel free to comment on lookbook.nu or here! Its much appreciated :)

i think i'll be gone away a while

I finally got to wear my vintage army green shirt! I wanted a more rough look this time, so I thought I should make army and olive green the focal colour. I paired my shirt with the scarf my Grandma gave me, my leather jacket, and my Levis. Of course, I had to wear my combat boots for an outfit like this.

For everyone in Calgary, enjoy the incredibly mild weather!

the outcome of a still verdictless life?

Firstly, I hope everyone had a great New Years Eve and I wish everyone a fantastic 2012! I have added a bunch of John Mayer to my library in recent days, so I've been using some of his lines as titles, just in case anyone was wondering ;) I know I always talk about earth tones, but that seems to be all my wardrobe consists of. I just love the way they go together to make a warm looking outfit. I love the deep maroon, evergreen, and khaki all together, and all tied together with my black combat boots. Although my Banana Republic jacket is a little big, I'm sure I'll grow into it over the next little while. I just love the greeny/taupe colour! I really hope everyone like this look! Feel free to comment on lookbook.nu or on my blog. The feedback is greatly appreciated!
